Make your own winter wonderland forest with this adorable crochet tree pattern. Because they are so easy to whip up, it’s so easy to make an entire forest, with all different sizes! These trees make the perfect decoration for the holidays and all winter long.

I realized earlier in November that I have never crocheted anything Christmas themed. This surprised me, considering that I am one of those people that listens to Christmas music in October and starts decorating early November!
While I was contemplating what I wanted to make, I knew I didn’t want something that screamed Christmas. I wanted to create something that matched my modern and minimalist style.
I think I perfectly captured that vision with this crochet tree pattern! They are the perfect Christmas decoration, but I think they would also be great winter decoration in January and February too – especially if the trees were made in white!

One of my favorite things about these trees is that they can be made into any size! The biggest size I wrote down was for a 5 1/2 inch tall tree. I love the look of smaller trees that can easily be displayed on a mantle or a table center piece!
This is one of those projects that is perfect for using up scarps of yarn (and in my opinion, those are the best projects!). These trees call for worsted weight (4) yarn. For the gray trees, I used Lion Brand’s Heartland in Katmai and for the green trees I used Yarn Bee’s Secret Soft in Forest.

Materials
- Small amounts of worsted weight (4) yarn
- I used less than 1 skein of Yarn Bee’s Secret Soft in Forest and Lion Brand’s Heartland in Katmai.
- G/4.00mm crochet hook
- Polyester stuffing
- Tapestry needle
Notes
- The pattern is worked in American crochet terms.
- The entire pattern is worked in rounds joined together. For the tree is worked inside out. While the base is worked right side out.
- The tree’s size is very customizable. In the pattern, I have three different sizes written down. But to customize the size, work an increase round + the two rounds that follow, then work the base.

This is what it looks like right side out.
Base
Turn the tree right side out. The stitch count will be different for the different sizes, but the st count does not matter as long as it gets smaller with each round.
Round 1: *1 sc in next 2 st, 1 sc2tog* repeat around. Sl st into first st, ch 1.
Round 2: *1 sc in st, 1 sc2tog* repeat around. Sl st into first st, ch 1.
Fill the tree with the stuffing. NOTE a tip to keep standing up right, is to not over stuff the tree. The tree stands up better if it had a flat bottom.
Round 3: sc2tog around. Sl st into first ch 1.
Cut yarn, leaving a tail. Finish closing up the bottom. Weave in ends.
