This crochet cable mittens pattern is the perfect winter accessory! The braided cables add character and interest while giving the mittens a classic look. The Katri Cable mittens will elevate any outfit while keeping your hands warm.

I am beyond excited to introduce you to the Katri Cable Mittens!! Crocheting mittens have been on my ‘to make list’ for quite some time and I am thrilled that I finally got around to making them!
It has also been a long time since I have crocheted cables, so I thought cables would be perfect for these mittens! This is my first time using the braided cable and I must say, I am officially obsessed!!
I avoided the braided cable for so long because I was really intimidated by it, it seemed so much more complicated than regular cables. But they were surprisingly very easy to learn.
The braided cables really elevate the look of this crochet cable mittens pattern!

If this is your first time crocheting braided cables (or any cable for that matter!!!), I got you! I have tons of pictures to help you!!!

Hi, very cute mittens and I’m trying to make them, but I’m confused by round 5. If I do all those stitches it equals 32, not 24. And if I ignore the first “work 10 stitches” it equals 22. How do you get 24 stitches in round 5?
Kate,
Sorry that is a typo that I cam fixing now. This is the last increase round so you should have a total of 32 stitches. You work 2 sc in every stitch and you work the post stitches into the previous round. Does that make sense?
I think at the end of row 4 there are 32 sts, not 24…and row 4 was the last row to increase? Because row 5 doesn’t add any stitches. Just checking…
Hello Heidi,
Thank you for catching the typo! Yes there should be 32 stitches in row 4 and it is the last increase round.
Do you use the 4mm or 5mm hook for the thumbs?
Ashley,
You use the 5mm hook!
Grace
Love this pattern!
When is the 4mm hook used?
Thanks,
Deb
Hello Deb,
They are used at the cuff!
