This lightweight crochet tassel scarf is the perfect accessory for spring and summer! Because the Camellia Scarf is lightweight and has a fresh style, this is the ideal scarf for the warmer months. The easy pattern makes this the perfect mindless project. Finish the scarf off with some tassels to make it more interesting and add more character.

Despite the fact that crochet is traditionally a fall/winter hobby, I actually prefer to crochet for spring/summer. There is something so refreshing and bright about this time of the year!
This lightweight crochet tassel scarf is perfect for spring and summer!
I realized that I have not yet created a scarf for spring. I knew I had to change that! I wanted to keep the stitches super simple, I’m a firm believer that sometimes the most simple stitches make for the most modern look! I decided to use one of my favorite stitches, the herringbone half double crochet. I love the simple, yet beautiful texture this stitch creates for this lightweight crochet tassel scarf.

Because the stitch pattern was so simple, I wanted to make this scarf a little more interesting. So I chose to angle the ends of the scarf. . But don’t let the tapered ends scare you, they are actually really easy to do!
But can we all agree that the best part about this scarf is the tassels?!?!? I am seriously so obsessed with them and they really turn this simple scarf into a statement piece.

Materials
- 1260 yards of sport weight (2) yarn
- I used 4 skeins of Lion Brand’s Beautiful You in Spanish Villa
- US H/5.00mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- 3 inch piece of cardboard (or something else relatively flat)
Notes
- This pattern is written in standard American crochet terms.
- The turning ch 2 counts as the first st of each row. This means when starting a new row, skip the first st (because the ch 2 is technically the first hhdc that has been worked into this st). Then at the end of the row, work the last hhdc into the turning ch from the previous row.
Skill Level: Easy
Measurements: Approximately 9 ½ inches wide and 71 inches long from point to point
Gauge: Approximately 6 rows of 8 hhdc = 2 inches
Abbreviations:
St: Stitch
Sl st: Slip Stitch
Ch: Chain
Sc: Single crochet
Hhdc: Herringbone half double crochet
Hhdc: Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, pull back through the st AND the first loop on hook (This is similar to a slip stitch). 2 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through both loops.
Hhdc tog: Herringbone half double crochet
Hhdc tog: Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, pull through the st AND the first loop on hook (2 loops on hook). Yarn over, insert hook into next st. Yarn over, pull back through st and the first loop on hook (4 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.

Tassels (Make 12)
I used a 3 inch piece of cardboard, but you can easily adjust the size of the tassels by wrapping the yarn around something bigger or smaller.
Wrap the yarn around the cardboard 15 times.
Cut yarn along one side of the cardboard.
Lay the strands on top of another piece of yarn.
Tie the stand around the middle.
Fold the yarn in half, lay it on top of another strand of yarn.
Tie the strand towards the top.
Take the tapestry needle and tuck the ends in the tassel.
Trim the ends.
Attach 6 tassels on either side of the scarf, along the angled edge. Weave in all the loose ends.
