Out of all of the washcloths this *might* be my favorite.
In fact this stitch may be one of my all time favorite stitches. The stitch pattern is so simple (only a two stitch repeat!) and it creates the most beautiful little bobble-ly texture!
This stitch is also super versatile. This stitch can be used for just about anything – blankets, scarves hats, etc..
I love how modern it looks (especially in a neutral color!), but this stitch also has a fun and quirky vibe to it. The possibilities with this stitch are endless. Enjoy the free pattern below!

- 110 yards of worsted weight (4) yarn. NOTE cotton works best for washcloths
- I used Lion Brand Re-Up in Ecru
- H/5.00mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms.
- The turning ch does not count as a stitch.
Sl st: Slip stitch
Sc: Single Crochet
Tr: Triple/Treble crochet
Skill Level: Easy
Size: Approximately 9 inches x 9 ¼ inches
Gauge: Approximately 6 rows of 8 scs = 2 inches
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in every ch across (32). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: *1 tr in st, 1 sc in next st* repeat across (32). Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: 1 sc in every st (32). Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: *1 sc in st, 1 tr in next st* repeat across. In the last st as the tr, work a sl st [this is to create the little “bobble”] (32). Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Skip the sl st an in the tr st work 1 sc, 1 sc in every st across (32). Ch 1, turn.
Repeat rows 2-5 for a total of 32 rows. Do not fasten off.
Border: Evenly sc around the washcloth, working 2 scs in each corner
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
