This button cardigan crochet pattern is designed with versatility and comfort in mind. While this cardigan is easy to stitch, it’s the simple details that elevates this garment. Effortlessly layer the Haven Cardigan over any outfit for an outfit that is both cozy and timeless.

I have an unashamed love for cardigans. They are great for layering, super versatile and oh-so-cozy. I love to design simple patterns, but elevate them with a few added details.
This button cardigan crochet pattern will become your new favorite cardigan!
For this cardigan I knew I wanted to add buttons because I think they add such a classic look. This was my first time adding crochet pockets to a garment, and I have to say I’m obsessed! I don’t think I can ever go back to not adding them to garments in the future 😉

When I name my designs, sometimes the names have personal meanings while other times I just think a particular name suits the design. Wearing the Haven Cardigan is like wearing a big cozy blanket. And being wrapped in a blanket often has the feeling of security and comfort, which is exactly what I want people to feel while wearing this garment.

The Yarn
Every since Lion Brand released Chainette in their LB collection, I have heard raving reviews about the yarn. When I was planning out this design, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to try this yarn. I have to say, it definitely lives up to the hype! This yarn is so soft and fluffy and it makes this button cardigan crochet pattern feel like a fluffy, wearable cloud!

I am currently working on the sleeves and am a bit confused about turning while working in the round.
Hello Jamie,
Once you reach the end of the round, join into the first st and ch 1 as normal. Then turn your work (like you would with a row) so that you are working in the opposite direction.
Hi Grace, I had the same question as Jamie and this was also posted on Ravelry by someone who made the Forager cardigan. Should I use a slip stitch to join, and then chain and turn?
Hello! yes, that is correct!
I already purchased this pattern, but need to reprint it, is there a way to do that without having to pay again.
Karen,
You should be able to access the pattern in your purchases on Etsy.
Grace
What size hook is used for the ribbing? What size buttons did you use?
What size buttons please?
Hello Grace!! I just found this nice sweater pattern, and am eager to try it! Mostly, at this point, I want to say how nice it is to see a maker answer answer her emails!! Very kind and considerate of you! Makes me much more inclined to check out your whole site! Thanks you! Have a wonderful day!! 🌻🌞🌻
Hello! I’m confused about the gauge. With a J hook I am 2″ wide but almost 4″ tall. Should the gauge be 2″ square? Thank you!
Hi there! I love your pattern! I am pretty new to crocheting so wanted to see if you could explain the back panel a little further for me. I’m confused on how when i turn the ribbing to work on the long side that i count/determine which stiches to place in order Evenly work 84 hdc across when the rows are 62. I keep coming up with either too many or too few stitches. Thanks for your help and pattern!
Hello Amanda! There is not a specific method for placement of the stitches across the long side. However, I would suggest to try to work a stitch into 4-5 rows, and then skip a row. Does that make sense?
