Here are the ways I intend to enjoy a simple and slow holiday season filled with festivity and memories!

I made a similar blogpost to this for Autumn (see here), and I loved creating that post so much I wanted to make one for the holiday season. The holidays are always my favorite time of the year. This season is so magical to me and I always try to soak up every moment of the short season. As I expressed in my Autumn blogpost, I’m striving towards a slow and intentional life, and I especially want to be intentional about having a slow and intentional holiday season. I feel like this time of year is always so jam packed and I truly want to soak up the simple moments.
I could this a post filled with a bucket list of things I want to do that would be fun and festive. But I’d rather focus on implementing small, simple, and festive intentions throughout my day.
Advents
I love advents. They are such a fun way to countdown to Christmas! Growing up, I had a chocolate advent where everyday I would find the coordinating number for the day, open the little flap, and savor the little chocolate square nestled inside. Prior to last year, I hadn’t had an advent for about 10 years. But last year I decided to purchase this coffee advent, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This year, I’m doing the same thing, but I wanted to try a new coffee company, so I purchased this advent.
I had planned on only opening the coffee advent, but when Sewrella Yarn announced their Holidays at Downton Countdown sets. I knew I had to have it! Personally, a full 24 mini skein set is a little steep financially for me right now, but a 10 mini skein set is much more manageable. Plus, I truly cannot say no to anything Downton Abbey related! I plan to start opening the set on the 10 days leading up to Christmas✨

Additionally, I plan on wrapping some of my fingering weight scraps in cute festive packaging and open up one up each day and add that color into my scrappy granny stripe blanket. If you can’t afford to purchase an advent, it is just as much fun making your own!

Candles
It’s a simple, way to add a little festive charm to a room. I love having seasonal candles that I burn as I’m working or just relaxing with a project. My Christmas candle that I will be burning all December was gifted to me by a friend and I’m not sure where she got it.
But here are some other Christmas candles that all sound like they smell divine!
Baking
I love baking, but unfortunately I simply don’t have a lot of time to bake. However, I’ve had these puppy chow truffles saved on Pinterest for several years and I think if my only goal is to make these this year, that would be perfect! While this is definitely more of a “task” or “activity” it is relatively simple and relaxing for me and I’ve already made a plan for when I will make these!

Garlands
I go crazy for garlands. I love garlands of all kinds and I love them year round. Every holiday I like to make orange garlands since they’re such a simple and affordable decoration. I also think it would be fun to use up some of my yarn scraps to make some simple crochet garlands! I have some faux fur yarn that’s been sitting in my stash for the longest time. I think it could be really cute to crochet a simple chain garland with the yarn and layer it over the orange garlands.
That’s it! It’s a pretty short list, but in my efforts to keep things simple, I think it’s perfect! I’m so excited to spend time with family and friends, work on personal projects, and soak up every moment of the season.
