I’ve compiled a small list of my crochet and knitting plans for spring and summer! I feel most inspired this time of year with my projects, and I wanted to share my project plans and what’s inspiring me!
As a crochet pattern designer, spring and summer are considered the “slower” seasons. Many people are seasonal crocheters and knitters and only prefer making during the colder, fall and winter months. To be clear, this is not about me bashing those people, if you don’t want to crochet when it’s warmer outside, that’s totally fine! I am a huge advocate for making when you feel inspired and motivated.
However, for me personally, I feel most inspired during the spring and summer months. This time of year I always have so many ideas and I try to squeeze in as many projects as possible. I put together a little moodboard of things that have been inspiring me lately, to use as inspiration for my projects this year.
As you can see from my moodboard, I have a very specific style that I am sticking too. In the last few years, I’ve really settled into my personal style of cottagecore, English countryside, etc. My crochet designs over the last couple of years have in turn really started to reflect this style as well. If cottagecore, Anne of Green Gables-esc aesthetics are your style, you are definitely in the right place:)

Ruffle Socks: I feel like I’ve had some version of a ruffle sock on my make list/inspiration board for quite sometime. But this is the year that it is finally happening! (and I can say that confidently, because I’ve already winded the yarn for them:) ). I’m going to be knitting the Darling Socks by Darling Jadore. These are more of a delicate, scalloped sock, but I thought they would be a fun to knit! However, I think my next pair of ruffle socks will be these ruffle socks by Petite Knit, which are definitely a truer “ruffle sock”.
Woodland Animals: Amigurumi design is definitely not my forte when it comes to pattern designing. However, I’ve been feeling really inspired lately to crochet something with more woodland/cottagecore themes. And what is more woodlandy than a sweet little creature. I’m honestly not sure what that will look like, but I’m excited to have a fun, new design challenge.
Light/feminine Garments: For the most part, I’ve exclusively crocheted winter/fall garments. However, last year I finally ventured out into making a couple of summery tank tops. I have several ideas for some pretty, light and airy garments that would be the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe! I’ve actually started on a cardigan using Drops Safron, and I can’t wait to see the garment take shape! For years, designing spring/summer clothing has been very uninspiring for me, so it feels really good to be entering this season with some ideas that I’m really excited about!
Garlands: I can never resist an adorable garland! I have several ideas of some different garlands that’d I’d like to make. These would especially be great projects to make in between working on new designs as they’re quicker, take less time, and they use up scraps of yarn! I have a magic knot ball of my scraps from my Venture shawl, and I’ve been really wanting to turn that into a cute little garland for the longest time!
