The sweetest coozie that’s perfect for all of your iced summer beverages! Perfect for using up scraps, this project can easily be crocheted in about an hour! This easy drink coozie is available as a free crochet pattern below and a free video tutorial.
I originally published this pattern a couple of years ago HERE. I wanted to re-film the video tutorial, so I decided to update the pattern here with a couple of modifications that I made!
These drink cozies use such small amount of yarn that they’re perfect for using up any scraps you have lying around. I personally like using 100% cotton as I find that works best for absorbing the condensation. My favorite 100% cotton is WeCrochet Dishie. It’s soft and such a joy to crochet with! Additionally it comes in just about any color you can think of!
You can easily customize this pattern to fit any size glass. I first designed these to fit a pint size mason jar, but this time I wanted mine to fit the popular beer style glasses.

Materials
Yarn: 64 yards of worsted Weight (4) yarn.
- WeCrochet Dishie in Linen (main color) and Swan (contrasting color)
- If striping, approximately 34 yards for the main color and 30 yards for the contrasting color
Hook: US G/4.00mm crochet hook
You will also need: Tapestry needle
Notes
- The pattern is worked in US crochet terms.
- This cozy is worked bottom up, in the round.
- To minimize the amount of ends to weave in, I recommend carrying the different yarns throughout the pattern. I explain more of this technique in the tutorial.
Skill Level: Easy
Sizing: This pattern is designed to fit a regular pint size mason jar. The size of this cozy can easily be adjusted to fit any jar size.
Use the pattern as a guide for the construction of the cozy, but use your jar to guide the size of your cozy. To fit the jar work the base until it is slightly smaller than the base of your jar. Then work the sides of the cozy until you have reached your desired length.
Gauge: After round 4, the diameter should measure approximately 3 inches
Abbreviations:
Sl st: Slip Stitch
Ch: Chain
Sc: Single Crochet
Hdc: Half Double Crochet
Hhdc: Herringbone Half Double Crochet
Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, pull back through the st AND the first loop on hook (This is similar to a slip stitch). 2 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull through both loops.
MC: Main Color
CC: Contrasting Color
Pattern
With MC, make a magic circle and chain 1.
Round 1: 9 hdc into the magic circle (9 sts). Sl st into the first st, ch 1.
Round 2: 2 hdc into every st (18 sts). Sl st into the first st, ch 1.
Round 3: *1 hdc in first st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat around (27 sts). Sl st into the first st, ch 1.
Round 4: *1 hdc in the next two sts, 2 hdc in next st* repeat around (36 sts). Sl st into the first st, ch 1.
Round 5: 1 hhdc in every st (36 sts). Sl st into first st, ch 1.
Round 6: With CC, 1 hhdc in every st (36 sts). Sl st into first st, ch 1.
Round 7: With MC, 1 hhdc in every st (36 sts). Sl st into first st, ch 1.
Repeat rounds 6-7 for a total of 15 rounds.
Round 20: 1 sl st in every st (36 sts). NOTE: Be careful to not work the slip stitches too tight as you will not be able to get the cozy on the glass if they’re too tight!
Fasten off and weave in loose ends.
