The Pearl Headband is possibly my most luxurious design to date! Designed with a tubular/double thick band and crocheted with a suri baby alpaca, this headband is the warmest headband I’ve every made! In addition to the warmth this headband provides, it’s effortlessly chic in style. Made from a very easy stitch pattern, I love how this headband looks just like knit garter stitch. I feel like it adds such a stylish look to the headband!
The pattern includes several different sizes and variations. Written with 4 sizes ranging from child to adult large, and 3 headband widths. However, you can easily adjust the size and width to your custom preferences, all of which is detailed in the pattern!

Materials
Yarn
This pattern uses a fingering weight yarn and a suri baby alpaca held together throughout the entire pattern. I used Quince and Co Tern for the fingering weight yarn and Universal Yarn Penna for the suri baby alpaca.
Below is the yardage you will need for each size and width (see measurements under pattern notes to determine your size). Under each option, the separate amounts needed for the suri alpaca and fingering weight yarn is written as followed: suri baby alpaca/fingering weight yarn

Pattern Notes
- The pattern is worked in US crochet terms.
- The headband is worked in the round to form a tubular and sewn together.
- The headband is worked on the wrong side and flipped inside out before seaming.
- Because the entire headband is made from slip stitches it is critical to keep your tension very loose. If the slip stitches are worked too tight, they will be almost impossible to work into, and the headband will take significantly longer to make. The best way to keep your tension consistently looser is to physically hold the crochet hook and yarn looser in your hands. You should be holding onto the hook and yarn just enough to be able to work the stitches, but you should not be gripping onto them.

This headband is designed to have 6 inches of negative ease. While that seams like a significant amount, this headband stretches a lot. The sl st fabric is already naturally stretchy and the headband does stretch out with wear. However the length is very easy to customize (detailed in pattern).
The sizes are written in the pattern as followed: Child(Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large)

Pattern
The numbers underlined are the stitch counts for the widths and the numbers italicize are for the different sizes
Ch 28(34, 40). Without twisting the sts, sl st into the first ch
Row 1: 1 sl st into every ch (28, 34, 40 sts)
Remember to keep your tension loose throughout the pattern! See point 5 under pattern notes for tips
Row 2: 1 sl st into the back loop of every st (28, 34, 40 sts)
Repeat round 2 until your headband measures 12(14, 16, 18) inches or until you have reached your desired length.
Cut your yarn leaving a 12 inch tail for weaving in ends. Turn your headband inside out, so the wrong side is now the front side.
Whip stitch the two sides together.
Weave in loose ends.
