Pattern Notes
- The pattern is worked in US crochet terms.
- This pattern is worked in the round and seamed on both ends to form the pumpkin shape. The pumpkin is also crocheted wrong side out, and the piece will be flipped inside out before seaming.
- While there are 3 sizes included in the pattern, feel free to customize the size to your preferences. Simple add or subtract from the foundation chain to adjust the diameter of the pumpkin. Add or subtract from the amount of rows worked, to adjust the height.
- Because the pumpkin is worked out of slip stitches, it is crucial to maintain a looser tension. If the stitches are worked too tightly, they will be nearly impossible to work into.
- You can customize this pattern to be worked in any weight of yarn. Just note that you will need to adjust the hook size to accommodate the different yarn size. Additionally, the size of the pumpkin will vary drastically with smaller yarn weights, you may also need to adjust the number of stitches and rows worked.

Pumpkin
When creating the slip knot, leave a 15 inch tail, this will be used to cinch the bottom closed later. Ch 26(36, 50). Careful to not twist the ch, sl st into the first ch.

Row 1: Sl st into each ch. Remember to not work the sts too tightly (26, 36, 50 sts).
This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of round.

Row 2-16(22, 29): Sl st into the back loop of every sl st from the previous round (26, 36, 50 sts).

Remember the pumpkin was worked on the wrong side. The left photo is what the wrong side should look like. Flip the tube inside out, the right photo is what it should look like, this will now be the right side.

Fasten off, leaving a 24-30 inch tail.
Assembly
Begin by cinching the bottom of the pumpkin (this is the starting ch of the pumpkin or the side with the smaller tail). Thread the needle in and out of the bottom round, pulling tight. Cinch tight to close the hole.

Start lightly cinching the top of the pumpkin closed. As you’re closing up the hole, add the stuffing.

Leave the hole open enough to slide the stem into it. I will keep my stick on hand and use it as a guide at this point.
If desired, you can leave the pumpkin as is, but I like to add indentions to give it the iconic pumpkin look.
To make the indentions, using the tail from the top, insert the needle through the bottom center of the pumpkin. Pull up through the top center and pull slightly to make a more defined indention.
Evenly work 6 indentions around the pumpkin.

Securely fasten off. Hot glue the stem into the pumpkin. Add a fabric strip bow or twine knot around the stem, for a darling, finishing touch.
I hope you enjoy crocheting the Pearl Pumpkins! Be sure to tag me on Instagram with your darling pumpkin, I would love to see it!
